In my book Bush and Arctic Pilot ISBN 0-88839-433-0 (Hancock House Publishers) I relate flying MK VI Norseman CF-GTP from Arctic Bay (on the north end of Baffin Island) to Churchill, Manitoba (on Hudson's Bay). I had to put down at Chesterfield Inlet (West shore of Hudson's Bay) for fuel. A very strong wind from the east made it necessary that I land out in the bay (there is a small lake but a north or south wind is needed in order to use it). A natural breakwater is made up of rocks extends at the east side of the bay and it caused the six-foot swells to roll in from the south. I landed GTP in those six-foot swells without damage. The MK VI Norseman is the only bush aircraft I would have considered for landing in that bay. This aircraft is built so strong that I had no qualms about landing in that rough water. Long live the Norseman!
